The two Regional assemblies have significant roles regarding the administration of certain kinds of EU funding at a regional level. The following links to the Southern & Eastern Regional Authority and the Border, Midland & Western Regional Authority will keep you updated on their local activities.

Another European body relevant to local government but quite separate from the EU is the Congress of Local & Regional Authorities of Europe (CLRAE) which is itself a tier of the Council of Europe based in Strasbourg. CLRAE concerns itself with promoting the principles of local democracy as a democratic value in each member state.
